from Google quote of the Day

Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children and no theories.
-John Wilmot

One of my morning compulsions is to read the Quotes of the Day on my Google homepage. I often find a bit of wit or wisdom to brighten my day. Today, surrounded by crying little people while trying to get ready to take the kids on our weekly library trip, this quote seemed only too apropos. This was my morning smile, bolstered by the creamy cuppa decaf at my elbow.

I keep reminding myself that we are still in a period of adjustment and that this too shall pass. In case you were completely unaware, "this too shall pass" is possibly the most useful mantra for the frazzled mother, whether it be 3 a.m. with a fussy newborn or 10 a.m. with a fussy toddler. A lot of love, discipline and patience will also be required, but this too shall pass brings great comfort. Perhaps it is because it has already passed with 6 other children; it passed and I survived to tell about it. Children are a great joy but, to quote James Dobson, "Parenting isn't for cowards."

  1. I have CS Lewis quotes on my homepage. Also Flood it and Color Junction...very addictive those two! I play those sometimes when Adam's working late, and listen to podcasts of this American Life. Uh, yep...a little bit of zoning is also necessary with wee ones, while chanting "This too shall pass." ;)

Great new background btw, love the color and design.
